Vineyards

Oldenburg Vineyards is located in the Banghoek Valley situated in the mountains above Stellenbosch. (Our neighbours include Thelema, Tokara, Camberley, Delaire and Rainbows End). We have approximately thirty hectares of vineyards, with Rondekop hill as the centrepiece. Jutting out into the valley the hill rises to approximately 450m from the lower river flats at 300m above sea level.

The height of the hill allows it to receive a significantly larger amount of sunlight than the nearby areas as the surrounding mountains shadow them. The vineyards have a generally cooler microclimate due to the altitude and the orientation of the valley which allows the cool summer south east winds to traverse it.

Simon Thompson, our estate and vineyard manager, together with Paul Wallace (consultant) use this magnificient terroir to deliver grapes of outstanding quality and set the perfect base for producing outstanding and exciting wines.
